Welcome to motherhood where you will experience a wide range of emotions, no sleep, and engorged boobs. As this part of your life is anything but easy, do yourself a favor, and accept that failure will become a natural feeling.
As a part time-worker, full time Mama + wife, my brain never shuts off. #momfails have become consistent in this sleep deprived human. As a first time Mama, I have experience plenty of these moments, and I’ve learned to accept them as they come.
Daily life is filled with failures; ranging from big to little; so when you add in taking care of another human other than yourself, expect for these instances to occur more often than none. You’ll skip giving them a bath just this once so that you can make it out of the door to go grocery shopping before their next nap. You’ll forget to put that load of laundry you’ve already washed three times, into the dryer. You told yourself that you would make all the baby food from scratch, but those pre-med baby pouches are more convenient. You’ll put them to bed 10 minutes earlier so that you can have a few moments to yourself. You’ll give in, and rock them to sleep even though you’re in the process of sleep training. You’ll make your one-year-old cry when you take away the remote because they pressed a button and turned off Netflix.
In the big scheme of things, these “fails” are so small. And although my one-year-olds face is non-verbally judging me- I know that he is loved more than anything.
When we fail, we thrive to better ourselves as mothers. So pick and choose your battles; deal with the moments that come, and know that failing just means you get another opportunity to try again.
