If you know me, you know that I am all about ‘do it yourself’ crafts, and if you don’t know me, there is a fun fact for you! I would rather spend the time making, and creating something than spending tons of money (because I have LOTS of diapers, wipes, and bills to pay). And honestly I enjoy making things. Now a days it takes me a little longer to create something, but I also am chasing around a 10 month old who is now mobile (help me Jesus).
Cole’s first birthday party will be LUMBERJACK themed
I am no Pinterest tutorial, but I am so excited to show you how I created these invitations. Oh, and if you haven’t guessed already, I totally got this idea off of a few things I saw on Pinterest. Seriously, what did people do when there was no Pinterest?
All of my supplies were from Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and my MacBook Pro. If you haven’t been into a Hobby Lobby yet, GET THERE ASAP. It is Heaven on earth, and I can’t even put into words my obsession with it. Once you go, you’ll understand 😉
I used crafting paper and a service on my Mac called TextEdit. There I have previously downloaded fonts that I used on the invitations. Pinterest people. You search FREE FONTS, free fonts is what you get. After printing the invitations, I used a paper cutter to ensure that every cut was precise. Cue in the ol’ trusty Elmers glue for the glueing process. P.S the red + black buffalo print paper is from Hobby Lobby.
Clothes pins, glue, self-seal envelopes and my printer ink are all from Walmart. The Lumberjack themed envelope seals are from Hobby Lobby, and those will be used for the back of the sealed envelopes.
The axes you see are actually cupcake toppers with the toothpick cut off. I used about 14 inches on twine and wrapped it around the top of the invitation. I made 2 knots, took the mini clothespin and hung the axe off of it. WAHLAH!
This process took me about a week, and the total cost of everything was $40.00 (including printer ink). I am so happy with the final product, and so amazed with how easy this was! They may not be Etsy perfection, but knowing that I created a memorable part of my sons first birthday party, makes it all worth it!
